Rob Smith was born in West Yorkshire, 1960. Graduated from Nottingham University in 1981 where he studied with Nigel Osborne. Since then has worked as a composer, improviser, performer and musical director. Has composed for film, TV, theatre, dance as well as contemporary classical and jazz concerts. Currently holds a post as Associate Lecturer at Bath Spa University College where he teaches and researches in Composition, Film Music, Music Theatre and Community Music, Has had his music performed by London Sifonietta Voices, Suoraan, Roger Heaton Group, PM Ensemble, Beatsystem, Mary Wiegold and The Heavy Quartet. He has lived in Cardiff since 1983. |
