Malcolm Jones was born on August 30^th, 1951. His qualifications include Army Musician First Class, and B.A. Hons. Band Studies (Sheffield University). He has worked as Principal Euphonium, Regimental Band, Her Majesty’s Welsh Guards (7 years); Lead Trombone, Ray Shields and Herb Miller Orchestras; Bandleader and Lead Trombone Tuxedo Junction Jazz Big Band. Performer, Teacher and Conductor of Music for over 20 years, and Arranger and Composer.

Malcolm Jones writes:

It was while studying composition under Arthur Butterworth that I discovered my ability and love of composition. It had long been a dream of mine to compose music for film, I prefer to write music for film as I am inspired by the image/mood of a film, with very varied musical outcomes. I also love to write Jazz as I love this art form.

PROJECTS I HAVE WORKED ON :

As an arranger, I have worked for many years transcribing and arranging music for Brass Band, Military Wind Band, Choirs and Jazz Big Band.

2001 Romance in the Air – 6’ animation by Bafta Cymru winner Gerald Conn (presently in production) commissioned by S4C – rights held by S4C/EMI – a musical dialogue covering various genres of music: Brass Quintet, Indian instrumental, Solo Violin, Bassoon and String Orchestra, Organ and Big Band.

2001 Incubus, Succubus – also a short animation commissioned by S4C – eerie piece for string orchestra and voices.

2002 Llantarnem Grange – Childrens film-Gregorian chants, Clarinet and String Orchestra, Jazz Piano Trio.

2002 Music for a film by Cinetig for CARDIFF CITY OF CULTURE BID 2008

2002 I am currently working on a series of ten short films for internet release for the DULAIS VALLEY PARTNERSHIP
