Born in Swansea in 1979, LISA
MEARS began her musical education at a young age and was awarded a Music Scholarship to Malvern Girls’ College, Worcestershire, where she studied Piano, Violin and Singing. Lisa gained a wide performing experience and was awarded Instrumental Prizes for performances on Violin and Piano and the Hugh-Jones Trophy for the most Promising Pianist.
Lisa began composing while at school and studied for a BA (Hons) Degree in Music at Bristol University before attending the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where she gained an M.Mus degree in Composition, studying with Lynne Plowman and Christopher Painter.
In addition to Composing, Lisa regularly works as Accompanist to the Tenor, Christopher Waring Davies, is an Assistant Organist at St. Teilo’s Church, Bishopston, Swansea and has a Private Teaching Practice in Swansea offering tuition in Piano, Violin, Music Theory and GCSE / AS and A Level Music coaching.
In January 2006, Lisa entered the BSO / Kokoro Composers Competition and her piece Mosaic Counterpoint for mixed chamber ensemble was the winning entry. It was performed at The Lighthouse Arts Centre, Poole.
