A graduate of the Welsh College of Music & Drama,
Leigh Phillips began
his composing career while still a student at the college with commissions ranging from ceremonial fanfares for Channel 4's 'The Big
Breakfast' to scores for the International Animation Festival.
Upon leaving college he began a year-long relationship with the
MGCADT, composing the music for numerous animations; in addition to this he
signed up with publishing house Wright & Round Ltd working with many leading film composers and orchestrators and becoming one of their
youngest best-selling film-music arrangers.
Since then Leigh has gone on to score a wide variety of film, DVD, and
theatrical productions. Most recently, he reconstructed and orchestrated the score from the Bryan Singer film 'Public Access' for
'Superman Returns' composer John Ottman, and collborated with the Grammy-Award-winning Joe Harnell, constructing an extended suite of
music for Chorus & Orchestra from the composer's score for the hit Warner Bros sci-fi show 'V'.
Leigh has recently been nominated for a 'Jerry Goldsmith Best
Achievement in Audio Visual Music (Free Creation) Award' at the Ubeda International Film Music Festival. These are the first awards to be
presented in memory of film composer Jerry Goldsmith (The Omen, Star Trek) who passed away in 2006.
In addition to his composing & orchestrating duties Leigh also lectures
music at a college near Swansea.
